Bob SmallWhile Bob Small of Carroll Technology Services, Inc. may have made his 50th Network placement with Dave M. Sgro of True North Consultants, Inc. recently, it was a split placement he made with Sgro’s father—Dave J. Sgro—that prompted Small to call the Top Echelon offices and praise the elder Sgro.

Small did so because of the way in which the placement occurred.

Earlier this year, Small submitted a candidate to Sgro for a specific job order.  That candidate went on numerous interviews with Sgro’s client, but did not receive an offer.  As is often the case, time went by and Small forgot all about the fact that he sent the candidate to Sgro.

Then, two months ago, Small was on the phone with Sgro discussing another matter, when Sgro said to him, “By the way, your [candidate] is getting an offer.”

Apparently, Sgro received a new job order, and he thought that Small’s candidate would be a good fit for the position.  He moved quickly, prepping the candidate and setting up an interview.

“I said to Dave, ‘Why didn’t you tell me?  I would have prepped him!’” said Small.  “Dave did everything.  I actually feel badly that I didn’t do more.”

As it turned out, Small and Sgro placed a Staff IT Audit, and when all was said and done, Small received a check in the mail for $6,674.  According to Small, there are three aspects of this placement that stand out the most:

David J. Sgro1. Sgro considered Small’s candidate for the position instead of trying to place one of his own in an attempt to secure a full fee.

2. Sgro did ALL the prepping of the candidate and set up the interview.

3. Sgro TOLD Small that he had placed his candidate, even though it wasn’t in the position for which Small had originally submitted the candidate, and then mailed him a check for half of the placement fee.

“Kudos to Dave,” said Small.  “He’s a great split partner. He was looking out for me and thought of my candidate first.  I really appreciate it.  I can’t say enough good things about Dave J. and Dave M.  They’re great to work with.”

'Comments' and Compliments

What’s the only thing better than another edition of “Comments and Compliments“?

An edition of “‘Comments’ and Compliments” that coincides with a Preferred Member recruiter’s 50th Top Echelon Network placement, that’s what!

That’s exactly what we have this week, as a matter of fact, as Bob Small of Carroll Technology Services, Inc. recently made his 50th placement in the Network.  What made it even sweeter is that Small made the placement with one of his long-time Trading Partners, David M. Sgro of True North Consultants, Inc.  Congratulations, Bob, from everybody at Top Echelon!

If you’ve made a split placement with a Trading Partner and would like to compliment them for their efforts, send your comments to marketing@TopEchelon.com.

'Comments' and Compliments ExtraTop Echelon Network Preferred Member recruiters love to make split placements with one another, and they love to compliment each other for those split placements.  In some cases, they enjoy returning compliments that another recruiter has paid to them.

That’s the case in this week’s installment of “‘Comments’ and Compliments Extra.”  Last week in The Pinnacle Newsletter Blog, Georgette Sandifer of Gallman Consulting complimented Larry Radzely of Adel-Lawrence Associates, Inc. for a recent split placement.  To illustrate that he was just as pleased with Sandifer as she was with him during the process, Radzely submitted his own comments regarding the split placement.

The two have already made two splits together, and by all indications, there could make many more in the future.  If YOU have plenty to say about a Trading Partner regarding a split placement, email your comments and information to marketing@TopEchelon.com.

Georgette SandiferLarry Radzely“Georgette is fantastic to work with.  She is on the phone with a candidate minutes after  receiving a resume,  and if the candidate is qualified, she moves them through the process quickly.  Georgette and I have made two split placements in the past three months.  The first candidate started 25 days  after she received the resume, and the second candidate, who needs to relocate, was interviewed  and accepted the position in just 28 days.  Georgette has a great attitude, and I look forward to sharing more job orders and candidates with her.”

Top-Producing Recruiters

It’s August!  Which means that the “dog days” of summer are here . . . whatever that actually means.  Anyway, it also means that we have our award winners for the month of July in Top Echelon Network, and we have a brand-new “Recruiter of the Month” recipient.  In fact, this recruiter just recently ascended to the top spot in the Network.  That’s right—not only is Russ Schutt, CSP of Progressive Executive, Inc. the “Recruiter of the Month,” he’s also currently the #1-ranked recruiter in the entire Network.

As always, we recognize recruiters for achievement in two categories every month and quarter.  Those categories are “Recruiter of the Month” (as we’ve already mentioned) and “Highest Split Placement Fee of the Month.”  Below are the winners of these awards for July.  We’d like to congratulate the recruiters who earned them and thank them for their efforts.  Remember, for more information about the placements and cash-in totals associated with these awards, please login to the Members’ Area and view the profiles and placement details of the recruiters involved.

Russell SchuttRecruiter of the Month
Russ Schutt, CSP of Progressive Executive, Inc.

Russ made three placements in the Network during the month of July to claim top honors.

Behind him in second and third place, respectively, with two placements apiece were Pamela Ratz DeVille, CPC of Health Career Professional, LLC and Eric V. Stearley, CPC of Eric V. Stearley & Associates.

— — —

Amy Recker, CPCFrank GreggHighest Split Placement Fee of the Month
Amy Recker of Bridgeway Professionals, Inc. and Frank Gregg of Gregg & Associates

This large fee was earned by placing a Vice President of Operations.  The action causing this placement was listed as “The job order or candidate was found by searching the Members’ Area.”

(Editor’s Note: Click here to read The Pinnacle Blog post that details the story behind this particular placement.)

Our criteria for these awards:

Top Echelon’s recruiting network is a split fee recruiting network.  As such, we place an emphasis on split placements, and that emphasis constitutes the basis of our criteria for these awards.  We determine the monthly and quarterly award winners based upon two factors, which are listed below in order of importance:

1.) The number of split placements made
2.) The amount of cash-in dollars earned as a result of those split placements

In other words, the number of split placements that recruiters make is our first consideration.  In the event of a tie, the cash-in total earned from those split placements is the deciding factor and serves to break the tie.  Obviously, the recruiter with more cash-in dollars in the event of a tie is the recruiter who wins the award.

'Comments' and ComplimentsWhen recruiters work toward the common goal of making a split placement together, everybody looks good—no matter what color they’re wearing.  However, in this installment of “Comments and Compliments,” we find out that some recruiters look better in certain colors than others.  The one color for which everybody seems to have an affinity, though, is green, as in the money generated from making a split placement.

There’s no better way to build a Trading Partner relationship with another recruiter than to make a placement with them, and the recruiters highlighted this week are no exception.  If you’ve made a split placement with a Trading Partner and would like to compliment them for their efforts, send your comments to marketing@TopEchelon.com.

Remember, if you have comments for a Trading Partner regarding a split placement, please email those comments to marketing@TopEchelon.com.

We’ve said this before . . . but we’ll say it again, because it bears repeating.

Recruiters who attend Top Echelon Network conferences and conventions are more likely to make split placements.

There’s evidence of this all the time, everywhere, after every event that we hold. No matter how many recruiters attend, split placements result from the meeting.  And why is this important?

Amy Recker, CPCWell, because the 2011 Top Echelon Network Fall Conference will be here before you know it.  In fact, the conference is scheduled for Thursday, October 20, and Friday, October 21, at the Embassy Suites in Chicago.  Even though that seems like it’s a long time away, it isn’t.  That’s why we’ll be releasing the preliminary agenda for the conference in the near future, maybe even as early as next week.

In the meantime, we’re going to highlight one of the many split placements that resulted from a recent Top Echelon Network event.  In this case, that event was the regional conference we held in Tampa, Fla., at the beginning of 2010.

Of the over 30 recruiters who attended the event, two of them were Amy Recker of Bridgeway Professionals, Inc. and Frank Gregg of Gregg & Associates.  Recker and Gregg met each other for the first time and discussed their business and their firms.  Those conversations eventually led to a split placement when Gregg saw a job order that Recker had posted in the Network’s Split Jobs Database and contacted her about one of his passive candidates.

Because Recker met Gregg at the regional conference in Tampa, she gave his candidate an extra bit of attention, and that investment of time paid off in the form of a split placement.

Recker and Gregg eventually placed a VP of Operations for a VERY substantial fee.  (While it’s our policy to not publish placement fees in The Pinnacle Newsletter Blog, since it’s on the World Wide Web, I recommend logging into the Members’ Area to view the details associated with this placement.)

Frank Gregg“This is proof that it pays to post your most recent job orders on the TE site,” said Recker.  “Having met Frank at the regional meeting in Florida last year, I knew enough about his opinion of the candidate he shared.  The candidate gets a great new job, our client gets a sharp new VP, we get more job orders from this client, and Frank gets a free round of golf!”

The bottom line: if Recker and Gregg had not attended the regional conference in Tampa, they would not have made this split placement and earned a large fee in the process.  When it comes to Top Echelon Network conferences and conventions, sometimes you just have to find a way to get there . . . the rest seems to take care of itself.

That’s why we want you to find a way to get to the 2011 Fall Conference in Chicago.  Meeting one recruiter at one conference could be the first step to a new Trading Partner relationship and significant split placement revenue.

So, we’ve said it before . . . and there’s no doubt we’ll be saying it again.

'Comments' and ComplimentsWe’ve long espoused the firm belief that adhering and practicing The Four Pillars of Top Echelon Network will lead to split placements—and we have the proof in this week’s installment of “Comments and Compliments.”  That’s because both of the placements we’re highlighting are the result of recruiters’ commitment to The Four Pillars, which happen to be Quality, Communication, Trust, and Active Participation.

When you read the comments below, you’ll notice how the four elements were present during the process leading up to these split placements.  The Pillars are Pillars for a reason: they serve as the foundation of Top Echelon Network, and they’re instrumental to enjoying success as a Preferred Member recruiter.

If you’ve made a split placement with a Trading Partner and would like to compliment them for their efforts, send your compliments to marketing@TopEchelon.com.  That would be a great way to actively participate.

'Comments' and Compliments ExtraThe 2011 Top Echelon Network Fall Conference is rapidly approaching, and if you haven’t considered attending, you should.  That’s because every time we hold one of these events, recruiters make split placements because of it.  It happens over and over and over . . . well, you get the idea.  However, you don’t have to take our word for it.  The recruiters making these split placements would be more than happy to say a few words themselves.

Take, for instance, Alan Carty of Automationtechies.com and Scott Connell of the Connell Group, LLC, who met at the 2008 National Convention in Dallas, Texas.  If Carty and Connell had not attended that event, they wouldn’t have met, and they wouldn’t have made a split placement (which could be the first of many).

However, we digress.  After all, we said we would let them tell the story in their own words . . .

— — —

Alan Carty“This was a classic ‘why you should go to a TE conference placement’.  Scott Connell and I met at a TE conference a few years ago, and he rememberd that I worked Automation-related jobs.  He had an individual contact him who was a management-level person working in Automation, and Scott sent him my way to see if I could use him.  Within a few weeks, the candidate had three offers from three of my clients, none of whom had an open job order.  They just wanted this candidate.  Thanks for remembering me, Scott.”

Position Title—Senior Engineer
Fee Percentage—25%

Submitted by Alan Carty of Automationtechies.com regarding his split placement with Scott Connell of the Connell Group, LLC

— — —

Scott Connell“Having been in TE a few years and wanting to do more splits, I’ve learned to actively search out a select group of recruiters.  I met Alan Carty at a TE conference in Dallas and knew that he was very successful in the Network.  I took a chance and sent him a good candidate.  Alan ran with the candidate/MPC and marketed him to his top clients.  We made a split, and he kept me informed throughout the process.  I have complete trust in Alan and know that if you want to make splits, he’s the one who can make it happen.”
