What trend am I talking about exactly?

Well, the trend in which newer Top Echelon Network members split huge placement fees!

And yes, it’s happened again.

As you can see below, two newer Network members split a fee totaling $43,750 in September. And also as you can see, that total was big enough to earn the Largest Split Fee of the Month award!

Okay, I will admit that Mike Loftus, CPC of Beacon Professional Search has been a Network member since May of 2015. However, that’s still less than five years, and less than five years is still considered a newer member.

On the other hand, Nakita Gates of Executive Search, Recruit hasn’t even been a Network member for a year yet. She joined TE in December of 2018.

And get this: Nakita has already made three split placements since joining, with an average fee of nearly $40K associated with those placements. For Nakita, big recruiting fees are the rule for her in the Network, as opposed to the exception.

So congratulations to Nakita and Mike for making this placement and for earning the Largest Split Fee of the Month award for September!

“Nakita did a great job in finding a high-level, quality candidate for this search. The company was very selective in looking for the right balance between sales and supply chain experience, and Nakita came through!”

Submitted by Mike Loftus, CPC of Beacon Professional Search regarding his Network split placement with Nakita Gates of Executive Search, Recruit

Position Title—DIRECTOR SUPPLY CHAIN

Fee Percentage—25%

(Editor’s note: This is the first Network split placement that Mike and Nakita have made together in Top Echelon.)

Top Echelon determines the monthly and quarterly winners of its Network split fee recruiting awards in four distinct categories:

1.) Recruiter of the Month
2.) Largest Split Fee of the Month
3.) Recruiter of the Quarter
4.) Largest Split Fee of the Quarter

We only announce the winners of these awards in The Pinnacle Newsletter Blog. We do so usually (but not always) in the issue following the conclusion of each month and/or quarter.

The foundation of Top Echelon Network’s recruiting network are the Network Policies. Perhaps the most important policy is the “But For Rule.”

The rule is simple: But for what piece of information caused me to act?” This rule can be applied to many recruiting scenarios, including candidate ownership, placement fees and policies, and candidate and job order referrals.

In this issue of The Pinnacle Newsletter Blog, I’d like to present some important Network Policies. Now of course, all of the Network Policies are important. However, these revolve around the “But For Rule.” And that makes them particularly important.

So brush up on these Policies and make sure to apply them to your dealings within the Network.

Perusing Network Policies

Policy #8—Duplicate Candidates in the Network

Top Echelon strives to prevent Network members from distributing duplicate candidates, thereby eliminating the questions about whose candidate to honor.  When in question, the question to ask is But for what act would the agency have the desire to pursue the candidate?” Or simply put, “What caused the action to occur?”

Policy #9a—Candidate Ownership with Respect to Time

When determining how long a recruiter owns a candidate, refer to the “But For Rule.” If a member receives a candidate from another recruiter in the Network, but doesn’t work with that candidate until a year later, then the recruiter should split the placement fee with the originating member who first brought the candidate to their attention. But for what piece of information caused me to act?”

Policy #9b—Candidate Ownership with Direct Hire

Top Echelon urges both recruiters to break the chain of communication with a placed candidate for a period of no less than 18 months. The placement fee is received, the guarantee period has been satisfied, and the candidate has become established in their new position. Thereafter, going forward, the candidate may work with a recruiter of their choice, as any future transaction is considered a “new beginning.”

Policy #11—Placement Fees, Refunds, Guarantees, and Replacements

Network members should never be surprised by a fee percentage, refund, guarantee, replacement, or fall-off policy, as the fee schedule must be agreed upon in writing by both agencies prior to extending the offer to the candidate. The candidate recruiter is to honor these policies that the job order recruiter executes with the client.

Policy #15a—Honoring a Candidate Referral

Once a recruiter accepts and acknowledges acceptance of candidate information from another Network member, they must honor that candidate referral no matter if they later determine they “already had the candidate.” “What caused the action to occur?”

Policy #15b—Honoring a Job Order Referral

Once a recruiter accepts and acknowledges acceptance of a job order from another Network member, they must honor that job order referral no matter how (or when) they later “receive” that job order on their own. The “But For Rule” states, “But for what piece of information caused me to act?”

Although we cover Top Echelon Network’s Policies with all new agency owners, we ask that agency owners be sure to share these Policies with those in their agency who are active members of the Network.

Thank you all for your cooperation!

Okay, let’s get one thing out of the way. The reference to age in the title of this blog post has nothing to do with actual age.

Instead, it’s a reference to how long a recruiter has been a member of Top Echelon Network.

For example, if you’ve been in the Network for many years, then you have “old blood.” If you haven’t, then you have “young blood.” Just humor me for now.

Trey Cameron of the Cameron Craig Group and Steve Kohn of Affinity Executive Search have been in Top Echelon’s recruiter network for a combined 41 years.

Meanwhile, Joe Cresci of Food Management Search; Nancy Hastings of The Hastings Group; and Bob White of Impact Solution, Inc. have been Network members for a combined 10 years.

Regardless, all five of these Network members represent the Recruiters of the Month in Top Echelon for September!

This is yet more proof that you don’t have be in the Network for years and years to make a bunch of split placements. You just have to be split-minded, motivated to build relationships, and adhere to The Four Pillars of Top Echelon Network.

No matter HOW you define age.

So congratulations to the recruiters below and everybody who made placements in Top Echelon Network during the month of September!

Top Echelon determines the monthly and quarterly winners of its split recruiting awards based upon two criteria, which are listed below in order of importance:

1.) The number of split placements made
2.) The amount of “cash-in” dollars earned as a result of those split placements

This explains why, when multiple recruiters are tied with the same number of TE placements during a given month or quarter, the recruiter with the largest “cash-in” total is ultimately deemed the winner.

A total of 16 recruiting agencies joined Top Echelon Network in August.

And guess what? Another 16 agencies joined Top Echelon’s recruiting network in September!

This year has been a strong one for TE membership. As mentioned previously, we’ve been averaging well into double digits in terms of the number of recruiting agencies joining the Network each month.

As always, please welcome these agencies and the recruiters who are part of these agencies to Top Echelon Network. At the very least, send them an email. If they work in your area of specialization, give them a call. You never know. You could make split placements with them!

We run the names of recruiting agencies applying for membership in the Members’ Area of the Top Echelon website. We list the names of new members in the Members’ Area, as well.

However, we also list our new members in The Pinnacle Newsletter Blog. This list typically includes the name of the agency, the date that it joined, the geographic location of the agency, the agency’s specialties, and the members of the agency. These agencies work in a variety of industries and niches.

So I’d like to take this moment to congratulate the agencies and the recruiters listed below. I also welcome them to the Top Echelon membership and look forward to helping them make splits in the Network!

If you have any questions about reaching out to new members or about your split recruiting membership in general, please contact me. My contact information is at the end of this blog post.

Ever since we started listing every Network anniversary on a monthly basis in The Pinnacle Newsletter Blog, there have, of course, been more agencies to list.

But this month, we have an avalanche of Network anniversaries!

How many does an avalanche make? The answer is 46. That’s right, there are 46 recruiting agencies celebrating their anniversary in Top Echelon Network during the month of October.

Among those 46 agencies are four agencies that are celebrating anniversaries of 20 years or longer. We also have six agencies celebrating their one-year mark. And then there are the 36 agencies in between.

So we’d like to make special mention of the four member agencies celebrating anniversaries of 20 years or longer:

  • Gundrum & Associates, Inc. (26 years)
  • Stickle & Associates (25 years)
  • Continental Search & Outplacement, Inc. (23 years)
  • R.A. Briones & Company (22 years)

As always, we appreciate the loyalty and dedication of not only these Network agencies, but also of every Network agency celebrating an anniversary this month. (The complete list is included below.)

So congratulations to all of the agencies celebrating TE Network anniversaries during the month of October!

(Editor’s note: When recognizing Network agencies for anniversaries, Top Echelon includes the name of the agency, the location of the agencies, its staff members, and the date that it joined Top Echelon Network.)
