Go “Wayback” to the Future with Your Firm’s Website

You may not know this, but today is . . . “Back to the Future Day”!

What the heck is that? Back to the Future is a trilogy of time-travel movies that was released during the mid and late-1980s. They starred Michael J. Fox as Marty McFly, a teenage who finds himself thrust into mind-bending—but entertaining—chaos as a result of his friendship with “Doc” Brown (Christopher Lloyd).

In the second movie in the trilogy, Marty and the “Doc” travel 30 years into the future. The specific date in the future was October 21, 2015. That’s today!

To help celebrate “Back to the Future Day,” we visited the Internet Archive “Wayback Machine” website, which allows you to view past versions of your website. You may have noticed a photo of the past version of the Top Echelon website above—from October 25, 2005, to be exact.

Now of course, you can’t go all the way back to 1985, because hey, the Internet didn’t exist then. However, you can go back quite a ways. “Wayback,” as a matter of fact.

Once you visit the site:

  • Type in the URL of your firm’s website in the search box and click “Browse History.” Then you’ll be presented with a timeline through the years.
  • Click on a year, and that will bring up a calendar filled with light blue circles.
  • Click on one of the circles to view the way your firm’s website looked on that date.

As might imagine, you can use the “Wayback Machine” to visit past websites other than your own. Just click the link below to get started:

Visit your firm’s website in the past!

And if your firm’s website looks the same today as it did three, five, or 10 years ago . . . it might just be time for a new site.

And you’re in luck, because Top Echelon creates websites for recruiters. Just give us a call at 330.455.1433 and we’d be glad to discuss what we can do for you.

In the meantime, go back to the future! Or back to the past! Or whatever it is we’re supposed to be doing today!
