How Important is Social Media to Recruiting Success?
Sure, social media has become more a part of recruiting during the last decade. But is it really integral to recruiting success? And if it IS a part of that success, how much of a part is it?
You know who has the answer to this question? YOU do. Members of Top Echelon’s split network, that is. And with all of that knowledge at our disposal, how could we not mine for it?
So we asked this poll question in the Members’ Area:
How important is social media to recruiting success?
The choice of answers that we provided is listed below, along with the percentage of Network recruiters that selected each one:
- Very important — 36.8%
- Somewhat important — 43.9%
- Neither important nor unimportant — 14.9%
- Ultimately not important at all — 4.4%
Social media in recruiting: thumbs up!
The results of this poll are pretty easy to gauge. That’s because 14.9% of recruiters indicated that social media is “neither important nor unimportant.” Another 4.4% chose “ultimately not important at all” as their answer.
Put that all together, and you have 19.3% of poll participants who believe that social media is NOT important to recruiting success.
Use a little math, and that means 80.7% of Network recruiters think it IS important. In fact, 36.8% of them believe it is “very important.” In addition, 43.9% are of the opinion that social media is “somewhat important” to recruiting success.
The bottom line: a thumbs-up for social media in recruiting! At least as far as Network recruiters are concerned, that is.
Over time, will ALL recruiters believe that social media is important to their success? Probably. The only question is how long will it take for that to happen? (And how many Network members will still be in the profession when it it does happen?)
So I guess that’s two questions.
