There’s always something to celebrate in The Pinnacle Newsletter Blog. That’s because there are always split placements in The Pinnacle Newsletter Blog.

This week’s placements are below, and as you can see, congratulations are in order for Nick Hope of Hope and Associates and Mark Marshall of CRJ Search. That’s because Nick and Mark earned the largest split fee of the week. Specifically, they placed a Plant Manager to generate a split fee of $36,000 at 20%.

However, there is more to celebrate. The reason: another recruiter has made their first split placement in TE Network.

The recruiter in question is Joe Matthews of Resurgent Medical. Joe and Keith Cornelison of Personnel Resources placed a Registered Nurse, earning a $18,573 fee at 20%.

As a friendly neighborhood reminder, here is the information that we publish with our split placements:

  • Names of the trading partners involved (with their profile photos, when available)
  • Job title
  • Overall placement fee (before TE Network’s 6% brokerage fee, of course)
  • Fee percentage

Please note that the placements listed below reflect deals finalized in TE Network for the period from August 24 through August 30, 2026.

Remember, if you don’t want information related to your split placements published in The Pinnacle, please send an email to marketing@topechelon.com to that effect.

Once again, congratulations to everybody below for the split placements they made in TE Network!

Recruiting never stands still. New technology changes how recruiters identify and engage candidates, client expectations continue to evolve, and strategies that worked well several years ago may not produce the same results today.

For Katie Marks of Patrice & Associates, those realities make continued learning and connecting with other recruiting professionals important parts of succeeding in the business.

They are also among the reasons Katie will be attending TE Connect Fall 2026 in Chicago on October 29 and 30.

“I wanted to connect with other recruiting professionals, learn new strategies, and stay current on the latest trends and tools shaping our industry,” Katie said.

That combination of education, networking, and exposure to new ideas is at the heart of the TE Connect experience. Recruiters have an opportunity to step away from their desks, compare experiences with other agency recruiters, learn what is working for their peers, and return to their businesses with ideas they can put into practice.

Learn From Recruiters Who Understand the Business

Agency recruiting presents challenges that people outside the profession do not always understand.

Recruiters must generate job orders, source candidates, manage client relationships, coordinate interviews, negotiate offers, and develop new business, often while several searches are moving in different directions simultaneously. Add emerging technology and changing market conditions to the equation, and there is always something new to learn.

TE Connect gives recruiters an opportunity to learn alongside people who face many of those same challenges every day.

Katie sees that environment as an opportunity to expand her knowledge while identifying strategies she can apply after returning from Chicago.

“I’m looking forward to learning best practices, discovering new sourcing and recruiting technologies, and bringing back fresh ideas to better serve both clients and candidates,” she said.

The phrase “bringing back fresh ideas” is an important part of the equation.

Attending a recruiting conference can be enjoyable, but the real value comes from what happens after the event. A new sourcing technique could help uncover candidates who might otherwise have been missed. A different approach to client communication could strengthen relationships, while a conversation about technology could reveal a more efficient way to complete a task that consumes valuable time every week.

The objective is not simply to accumulate information. It is to identify useful ideas and determine how they can improve your recruiting business.

Discover New Strategies and Technology

Technology has always played an important role in recruiting, but the pace of change has accelerated as artificial intelligence and other tools become increasingly integrated into recruiters’ workflows.

That creates both opportunities and challenges.

A new tool is not necessarily valuable simply because it is new. Recruiters must determine which technology can help them work more efficiently, communicate more effectively, and ultimately make more placements.

One advantage of attending TE Connect is the ability to learn about technology within the context of the recruiting work it is designed to support. Rather than evaluating tools in isolation, recruiters can discuss how technology fits into actual sourcing, recruiting, and business development workflows.

Katie specifically identified new sourcing and recruiting technologies as an area she hopes to explore during the conference.

Those discussions become even more useful when they extend beyond formal presentations. Sitting next to another recruiter during a session, talking over lunch, or discussing a strategy between presentations can provide additional perspective about how other professionals are approaching the same challenges.

In fact, those informal exchanges are one of the reasons in-person recruiting events can offer value that webinars and other virtual educational opportunities cannot fully replicate.

Make Connections That Continue After Chicago

Education may be an important reason to attend TE Connect, but Katie also identified another objective: connecting with other recruiting professionals.

Those relationships are especially important within TE Network, where collaboration between recruiters can lead directly to business opportunities and split placements.

Other Network recruiters attending TE Connect have experienced that connection between relationships and results firsthand. Hall of Fame recruiter Ann Boland, for example, has completed 76 Network split placements and has emphasized the importance of meeting fellow recruiters face to face. One relationship that began when she invited another recruiter to join her breakfast table at TE Connect Fall 2022 eventually produced six searches and more than $260,000 in split fees.

The lesson is that networking at TE Connect does not have to end when everyone leaves Chicago.

The recruiter you meet during breakfast, sit beside during a presentation, or talk with during a networking break could eventually become someone you call when you need help filling an important search. They might have candidates in a niche you are trying to penetrate, expertise you can learn from, or a client need that matches the candidates you recruit.

However, those opportunities usually begin with a conversation.

TE Connect puts Network members in the same place for two days, creating more opportunities for those conversations to occur and for professional relationships to develop beyond usernames, emails, and phone calls.

Education, Networking, and Collaboration

Katie Marks of Patrice & Associates

Katie Marks

When asked why she would recommend a TE Network event to another recruiter, Katie identified three benefits that summarize much of what TE Connect is designed to provide.

“TE Network events offer a great combination of education, networking, and collaboration,” she said. “Whether you’re new to recruiting or have years of experience, you’ll leave with actionable ideas, valuable connections, and renewed energy for your business.”

That last point is worth considering.

Recruiting can be demanding, especially when searches stall, candidates withdraw, clients change requirements, or business development efforts take longer than expected to produce results. Spending time with other recruiters who understand those experiences can provide perspective that is difficult to find while working through the daily demands of the business.

For newer recruiters, TE Connect provides access to experienced professionals who can share lessons accumulated over years in the industry. Veteran recruiters, meanwhile, can discover different approaches, emerging technology, and new Network members with whom they may eventually collaborate.

Regardless of experience level, there is always another strategy to consider, another person to meet, and another opportunity to improve.

Join Katie Marks at TE Connect Fall 2026

TE Connect Fall 2026 will take place Thursday and Friday, October 29 and 30, at the Sheraton Suites Chicago O’Hare in Chicago, Illinois.

Registration is $375 per person and includes product insight and software training, recruiter-to-recruiter networking, and practical strategies that attendees can apply to their recruiting businesses.

For Katie Marks, attending means an opportunity to learn new strategies, explore sourcing and recruiting technology, connect with other recruiting professionals, and return home with ideas that can help her better serve clients and candidates.

Her reasons for attending also illustrate why TE Connect can provide value regardless of where someone is in their recruiting career.

You can learn from people who understand the challenges you encounter every day. You can discover strategies and technology that may help you work differently. You can establish relationships with recruiters you might eventually work with on placements. Perhaps just as importantly, you can spend two days surrounded by other professionals who are working toward many of the same goals.

As Katie put it, the combination can send you home with “actionable ideas, valuable connections, and renewed energy for your business.”

And any one of those could make the trip to Chicago worthwhile.

Consistent follow-up is one of the foundations of successful recruiting, although maintaining that consistency can become difficult when you are managing multiple searches, candidates, clients, and prospects simultaneously.

Sequencing in TE Recruit helps address that challenge by allowing recruiters to create structured outreach campaigns that automate portions of the follow-up process.

Now, several updates to Sequencing give recruiters even more control over that outreach while making Sequences easier to manage.

Sequencing Auto Stop, Resume Sequence Records, and Sequencing UI Enhancements are now available in TE Recruit, providing recruiters with new ways to automatically stop outreach after receiving a response, restart previously stopped outreach, and navigate Sequence settings and enrollment information more efficiently.

Sequencing is available exclusively in the Professional Tier of TE Recruit. If you currently use the Standard Tier, you will need to upgrade to the Professional Tier to access Sequencing and these new capabilities.

Automatically Stop Outreach When Someone Responds

Automation can help recruiters maintain consistent communication, but once somebody responds, the situation changes. At that point, the objective is no longer generating a response. It is continuing the conversation.

That distinction is the idea behind Sequencing Auto Stop.

Auto Stop is an optional setting that can be configured independently for each Sequence. When the setting is enabled, an enrolled record is automatically stopped when an email from that person is captured by the agency and creates an incoming email system event in TE Recruit.

This helps solve a practical problem with automated outreach.

Suppose you enroll a candidate in a sourcing Sequence containing several emails. The candidate receives one of those messages and responds that they would like to discuss the opportunity. Without Auto Stop, you would need to manually stop that candidate’s Sequence outreach. If you did not do so before the next scheduled step, the candidate could receive another automated message even though a conversation had already begun.

With Auto Stop enabled, the candidate can automatically be stopped from receiving future Sequence outreach after the incoming email is captured.

For Auto Stop to function, however, the incoming email must be captured in TE Recruit. That can happen automatically when the email is received by an agency user who has Inbound Email Sync enabled, or when the email is manually logged to the enrolled record using the Logging Address.

Importantly, the response does not necessarily have to arrive in the inbox of the recruiter who created the Sequence. For example, a candidate could respond to another recruiter at the agency who has Inbound Email Sync enabled. Once that incoming email is captured in TE Recruit, the candidate can automatically be stopped in the Sequence.

By recognizing that communication has begun, Auto Stop helps prevent unnecessary automated follow-up while reducing the amount of manual monitoring required from recruiters.

Resume Stopped Outreach Without Starting Over

There are also times when stopping outreach makes sense temporarily, but circumstances later change.

Perhaps you are sourcing candidates for a search and several strong candidates have entered the hiring process. Rather than continuing outreach while those candidates move through the pipeline, you decide to stop additional records in the Sequence.

What happens if those candidates ultimately do not work out?

Previously, once a record was stopped in a Sequence, there was no direct way to simply resume it. Continuing outreach could require removing and re-enrolling the record from the beginning or duplicating the Sequence and removing steps that had already been completed.

The new Resume Sequence Records capability eliminates that workaround.

You can now resume a stopped record without removing and re-enrolling it, and the record continues with the remaining steps from its existing Sequence enrollment rather than starting the entire Sequence again.

That distinction can make Sequencing considerably more flexible.

Consider the sourcing example above. You might stop outreach because several promising candidates are moving through the pipeline. Two weeks later, those candidates withdraw or are eliminated from consideration, and you need to resume sourcing.

Instead of rebuilding your outreach or restarting candidates from the beginning, you can resume the stopped records and continue from where each Sequence left off.

The same capability can be useful for business development and other types of outreach. Recruiting circumstances can change quickly, and a decision to stop communication today does not necessarily mean that outreach should remain stopped indefinitely.

Resume Sequence Records gives recruiters the ability to adjust as those circumstances change without unnecessarily recreating work they have already completed.

Navigate and Manage Sequences More Easily

The latest updates are not limited to what happens during outreach. TE Recruit has also redesigned portions of the Sequencing user interface to make individual Sequences easier to review and manage.

Sequencing now features a clearer, more organized layout with tabs for navigating between a Sequence’s Configuration, Preferences, and Enrollments.

When you select a Sequence, TE Recruit takes you directly to its Configuration, where you can review and manage the steps associated with that Sequence. From there, tabs provide quick access to Preferences and Enrollments without requiring as much navigation between different areas.

For recruiters using multiple Sequences, that more direct approach can make everyday management easier.

You might have one Sequence designed to source candidates for a difficult search, another for reconnecting with people already in your database, and another supporting business development with prospective clients. When you need to review or modify one of them, you can select the Sequence, go directly to its Configuration, and then move between its settings and enrollment information through the corresponding tabs.

The updated design also brings Sequencing more closely in line with layouts used elsewhere in TE Recruit, providing a more consistent and familiar experience throughout the software.

More Flexibility From Start to Response

Although these three updates address different aspects of Sequencing, they share a common objective: giving recruiters greater control over automated outreach while reducing unnecessary administrative work.

Auto Stop addresses what happens when outreach succeeds and somebody responds. Instead of requiring recruiters to manually stop the record, TE Recruit can recognize a captured incoming email and stop future Sequence outreach automatically.

Resume Sequence Records addresses what happens when outreach needs to restart. Recruiters can continue a stopped record from its existing enrollment without removing the person, enrolling them again, or repeating steps that have already occurred.

The UI enhancements make managing the entire process easier by providing more direct access to Configuration, Preferences, and Enrollments.

Together, these capabilities allow Sequencing to adapt more effectively to the way recruiting actually works. Searches change direction, candidates move in and out of pipelines, hiring priorities shift, prospects respond, and conversations can begin at unexpected times. Automated outreach is most useful when recruiters can adjust it to those changing circumstances.

Sequencing helps Professional Tier users create structured outreach and maintain consistent follow-up without manually managing every individual communication. With these latest enhancements, recruiters have additional tools for deciding when that outreach should continue, when it should stop, and when it should start again.

If you currently use the Professional Tier of TE Recruit, Sequencing Auto Stop, Resume Sequence Records, and the new Sequencing interface are now available for you to use.

If you are a Standard Tier user, you will need to upgrade to the Professional Tier to access Sequencing. In addition to helping automate consistent candidate and client outreach, these latest updates provide even greater flexibility for managing that communication as responses arrive and recruiting circumstances change.

The overriding goal with these updates to Sequencing is to help recruiters automate the right communication while retaining control over what happens next.

That’s because Top Echelon’s mission statement is to help recruiters make more placements . . . and we want to do that in as many different ways as we can!

Top Echelon President Mark Demaree

Mark Demaree

August is just about over, which is difficult to believe. It seems like it was just yesterday that it was June 1 and all of summer was ahead of us.

Well, not all of summer is left, but there is still a piece of it remaining. That would, of course, include the upcoming Labor Day holiday.

As has been the case for several years, the Top Echelon offices will be closed on Labor Day. This year, that day is Monday, September 7. And, in case you’re wondering, “Top Echelon offices” refers to the following:

Our officers will re-open at 8 a.m. for business as usual on the following day: Tuesday, September 8.

I’d like to take a moment to encourage you to spend time with your friends and loved ones this weekend. This is a good opportunity to “catch your breath” before the final four months of 2026 arrive.

Also, please exercise caution and be careful while you travel. We’ll keep everybody in our thoughts and prayers as you do so.

We hope that you all enjoy a great holiday weekend!

I’m pleased to announce the Virtual Core Group (VCG) meeting schedule for the month of September!

Top Echelon Network Membership Development Coordinator Drea Codispoti, CERS

Drea Codispoti, CPC/CERS

For those of you who don’t know, TE Network recruiters share the following information during Virtual Core Group teleconference call meetings:

  • Hot job orders and candidates
  • Information about the activity they’re seeing in the marketplace and/or in their niche
  • Ideas for increased production on their desks and within their agencies

These are the activities that lead most directly to making more split placements in TE Network.

So that is why I’m inviting—or in other words, strongly encouraging—you to attend one of September’s Virtual Core Group meetings. Below is the complete VCG schedule for September, including the industries involved and the time that each meeting will be held. (Note: all times are Eastern.)

Wednesday, September 9:

  • 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. — Manufacturing & Engineering
  • 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. — Accounting & Finance

Thursday, September 10:

  • 1:30 p.m. to 2:15 p.m. — Construction/MEP/Civil Engineering
  • 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. — IT/AI: Virtual Core Group

You can join the meeting to which you belong by accessing the information listed below.

Google Meeting link: https://meet.google.com/qba-qdic-kou

Below is the agenda for each Virtual Core Group meeting:

  1. Welcome
  2. Roll call of the members
  3. I will share the latest software updates for both TE Network and the Top Echelon recruiting software (also known as TE Recruit).
  4. Members will share their hot jobs with corresponding group discussion.
  5. I will direct a software and Network protocol Q&A session to close the call.

It is my goal that this agenda will help you take away more from the meeting than just hot jobs and/or candidates. Hopefully, it will help make you more knowledgeable in terms of the Top Echelon community.

If you’d like to join one of the groups listed above or if you’d like to start a new group, please contact me.

You can do so by calling 330.595.1742 or by sending an email to drea@topechelon.com.
