Now, more than ever, we need to pull together our resources in Top Echelon Network.

Yes, the COVID-19 pandemic is continuing to spread across the globe. Yes, the Stock Market has been getting rocked lately. And yes, it’s likely that many employers are hitting the pause button when it comes to hiring.

In fact, your clients might be delaying hires or even instituting a hiring freeze. However, while some areas have slowed down in recent days and weeks, there are still open job orders in the Network.

In other words, there are Network recruiters who have open job orders and want your help in filling them with qualified candidates!

So what should you be doing? These things, among others:

  • Run searches for candidates and jobs in the Top Echelon Network software. This includes the Network Candidates sourcing tool, which contains over four million recruited candidates.
  • Check your Alerts for matches.
  • Call your trading partners and make things happen. Be proactive!

As I said, your clients might be putting things on hold, and if they haven’t yet, they may do so soon. With that in mind, share what you have and increase the odds of filling the roles that you have.

However, I do want to say one thing regarding jobs that you may have on the Network:

When one of the job orders you have posted on Top Echelon Network gets filled, please remove that job order from the Network immediately.

If you’re lax in doing this, then you greatly increase the chances that you’re going to waste the time of another well-intentioned recruiter. And that recruiter just wants to help you fill your open order!

Now, more than ever, every job in the Network should be open and active. That’s because now, more than ever, time is of the essence. Don’t waste your own time and don’t waste the time of other Top Echelon recruiters.

THIS is the time to connect with other recruiters and build activity. In fact, this is the time to generate more activity with your trading partners than you’ve ever generate as a member of Top Echelon Network.

At Top Echelon, we have not survived for 32 years by accident.

We have survived and thrived during times like these because the Network pulls together.

So share your jobs and candidates, call your trading partners, and make it happen!

The effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on the employment marketplace has been a progression, much like the spread of the virus throughout the world population at large.

As such, it was only a matter of time before employers took steps to deal with the virus. This is especially the case in regards to face-to-face interviews. In order to shed some light on what employers have been doing, we posed a poll question to Top Echelon Network members.

That question was as follows:

Are clients doing anything differently with face-to-face interviews in light of COVID-19?

The choice of answers that we provided is listed below, along with the percentage of split network recruiters that selected each one:

  • No, they’re doing nothing differently. — 19.2%
  • Yes, they’re taking more health precautions with interviews. — 12.8%
  • Yes, they’re postponing interviews and delaying hires. — 41.0%
  • Yes, they’re doing more video interviews. — 21.8%
  • Yes, they’re doing other things not mentioned here. — 5.1%


Over four out of 10 recruiters (41.0%) indicated that their clients are “postponing interviews and delaying hires.” The second-most popular answer was that clients are “doing more video interviews” (21.8%).

Smaller percentages of Network members stated that their clients are “doing nothing differently” (19.2%) and “taking more health precautions with interviews” (12.8%). However, all of these numbers come with a caveat, which I will explain below . . .

Analysis and Conclusion:

The caveat with these results centers on the fact that the answers changed dramatically during the time that the poll question was live in the Top Echelon Members’ Area. At first, “No, they’re doing nothing differently” and “Yes, they’re taking more health precautions with interviews” dominated the answers that recruiters provided.

However, as time wore on, other answers became more common, specifically “Yes, they’re postponing interviews and delaying hires” and “Yes, they’re doing more video interviews.” It was obvious that clients have been taking progressively more drastic action as the virus spread.

Which, of course, means that as the virus continues to spread throughout the United States and the rest of the world, employers will continue to take additional steps. The real question is how many of them will institute a hiring freeze and stop interviewing candidates completely.

Is that a bit premature? Maybe and maybe not. Only time will tell.

Every week, there’s proof that Top Echelon Network can help recruiters make split placements. That’s because recruiters in the Network keep making split placements and they keep enjoying success.

Before the Internet changed everything about the way information was presented and transferred, there was a booklet that we sent to new Network Preferred Members through “snail mail.” That booklet was titled “Planning Your Network Success.”

Now, a lot has changed in Top Echelon’s recruiting network since we sent that booklet to recruiters. However, a lot hasn’t changed. As a result, the information contained in the booklet is still as valuable now as it was when we first produced it.

Planning and stages of success

In The Pinnacle Newsletter Blog, we’ve been talking about how we want to help you make more split placements.  And since the information that was contained in “Planning Your Network Success” could help you do just that, we’re re-releasing that information as a series of blog posts in The Pinnacle.

One of the central themes that ran through the booklet is that of “The Five Stages of a Networker.” That’s something that we’ll be keeping and presenting to the membership in The Pinnacle.

Philosophies and mindsets

What was also valuable about this booklet is that it explored the philosophies of the Network and the mindset that recruiters must have if they want to be successful as members. It’s these philosophies and this mindset that we’ll be emphasizing in the updated version of “Planning Your Network Success.”

Remember, this information is NOT just for newer members. It’s for anyone who wants to maximize their membership and “plan their Network success.”

So you’re either an exporter only in our recruiting network, an importer only, or you’re both. There is no wrong answer. Your recruiting desk and your agency are unique. Whatever works for you, well . . . works for you.

However, if you are an exporter or you do supply candidates to other Network members, then I would like you to send me an email.

When you email me, indicate the industries that you serve. State the niches in which you export candidates. Some examples include the following:

  • Chemicals
  • Aerospace

During these uncertain times, both in the world and within the economy and employment marketplace, I want to take a proactive approach to helping Network members. I want to help match your candidates with other recruiters who need candidates to fill their clients’ job orders.

When logging or scheduling Activities to a Network Candidate or Job, the corresponding date and time are automatically shared to the Network Activity card in the associated recruiter’s database. This is logged alongside a generic “Activity Logged” or “Activity Scheduled” type, so your trading partner is aware that you’re documenting Activities related to their Candidate or Job.

If you prefer to share additional details with your trading partner (which is usually recommended), you’re also provided with the option to share the specific Activity Type, Subject, or Details as well. Your trading partner would then have access to review those shared pieces of information along with the corresponding Activity.
