Okay, I’ll cut right to the chase. If you’re not making contract placements, you need to start. A recession is going to hit the economy. It could be in 2018 or 2019, but it doesn’t matter. It’s going to happen eventually, and you need to be ready.

When there’s a recession, employers stop hiring direct and they start hiring on contract instead. If your clients asked for contract clients, what would you do? Would you be able to help them?

Top Echelon Contracting has helped recruiters offer contract staffing to their clients for over 25 years. And this week in The Pinnacle Newsletter Blog, we’re presenting the top contract placement industries for 2017.

Contract placement industries: 100% transparent

As you can see at the top of this blog post, there is a graphical representation of the top contract placement industries. However, I’m going to list them below, as well. (The percentages indicate the percentage of deals they represented in regards to TEC’s placements overall.)

  • Healthcare—25%
  • Finance & Accounting—18%
  • Information Technology—16%
  • HR/Recruiting—14%
  • Engineering/Manufacturing—12%
  • Business Professionals—7%
  • Sales & Marketing—4%
  • Insurance—4%

I’m sure that a few of you added up the numbers. They do equal 100%. But thank you for double-checking my work.

If you work within any of the above industries, then you should be offering contract staffing services to your clients. All you have to do is provide contract candidates and place them. The process is the same as it is with direct hire placements.

As for the recruitment back office? You outsource that to us! WE will handle the legal, financial, and administrative details associated with the placement. You collect the placement checks.

And as you might (or might not) know, we’re now offering another level of service. This level, called TEC Express, is designed for contractors who are “office professionals” and would qualify for the Workers Compensation Code 8810 (or equivalent). Since the new Express service level is targeting only office professionals, we can pass more profit along to the recruiter. Express is also designed to streamline the placement process.

They (whoever “they” is) say that recruiting is a numbers game. That’s because it is. It’s a game filled with a whole lot of numbers, all of which lead to the big number: perm placements.

(Or if you want to split hairs, the amount of money generated from those placements. But that’s a topic for another blog post.)

But for the purposes of this blog post, we wanted to see how many placements YOU made last year. That’s why we whipped up this poll question:

How many perm placements did you make in 2017?

The choice of answers that we provided is listed below, along with the percentage of split network recruiters that selected each one:

  • None — 3.0%
  • 1-10 — 37.0%
  • 11-20 — 44.0%
  • 21-30 — 5.0%
  • More than 30 — 11.0%

Perm placements galore

Two answers dominated this poll. They were “11-20” at 44% and “1-10” at 37%. That means 81% of poll participants made between 1 and 20 perm placements in 2017.

What about the other results? We’re glad you asked. Well, there are the 3% of recruiters who chose “none” as their answer. I don’t know exactly how to comment on that.

Then we have the big producers. Five percent (5%) of recruiters indicated that they made between 21 and 30 placements last year. Then another 11% chose “more than 30” as their answer. How many more than 30 did they make? Another good question. I don’t have the answer to that question.

However, this is still all good information. It helps to show the level of success that Network members enjoy within the recruiting profession. The results of this poll appear to indicate that the majority of them make at least one perm placement per month. Obviously, some average two per month.

But it’s 2018 now. A New Year with new opportunities. Can you match your placement total of a year ago? Can you exceed it?

More importantly, can your split recruiting partners help you? We think they can. So let us help you help yourself.

Shree Kumar of Max Populi, LLC and Shelli Saunders of GoRecruitMe are no strangers to the top split fee in Top Echelon’s recruiting network. After all, they split the following fees in TE during 2017:

  • $39,560
  • $44,100
  • $27,600

Oh, wait. They did split one more fee. That fee totaled $68,224 and was the top split fee for the month of December!

A 9,928% return on investment!

Shree enjoyed a very productive first year in Top Echelon. Since joining on January 4, 2017, she’s made 10 split placements and her cash-in total for those 10 is $156,437.

First of all, that’s an average of $15,644 per placement. That’s a rather hefty average when you’re making splits. Second, Shree paid $1,560 in membership fees during 2017. She paid $1,560 in membership fees and her cash-in total for the year was $156,437.

Using those numbers, that’s a return on investment (ROI) of 9,928%!

That’s rather impressive for the first-year member of a recruiter network. If you’d like to achieve that kind of ROI on your membership in 2018, contact  Director of Network Operations Drea Codispoti, CPC/CERS. You can do so by calling 330.455.1433, x156 or by sending an email to drea@topechelon.com.

Top Echelon determines the monthly and quarterly winners of its Network split fee recruiting awards in four distinct categories:

1.) Recruiter of the Month
2.) Largest Split Fee of the Month
3.) Recruiter of the Quarter
4.) Largest Split Fee of the Quarter

We only announce the winners of these awards in The Pinnacle Newsletter Blog. We do so usually (but not always) in the issue following the conclusion of each month and/or quarter.

When you’re a member of a recruiting network like Top Echelon, you can make placements outside of your niche. It can happen. It does happen, as a matter of fact. All of the time.

The placements that you make in Top Echelon Network are more than likely placements you would NOT have made otherwise. Placements outside of your niche definitely fall into this category.

But how does this happen? It’s not black magic, is it? (Of course not . . . it’s not even white magic.) It’s simply the value that the Network offers to those recruiters who are willing to take advantage of it.

Want to learn more? You do? Well, good! We have a video that will help you to do so.

Not your niche? No problem!

For the past few years, we at Top Echelon have compiled a rather impressive library of training videos for Network recruiters.

These videos are recorded versions of live training webinars (our “Training Tuesday” sessions). We’ve designed them to help you enjoy more success. In other words, we’ve designed them to help you make more split placements.

These videos, which we’ve placed in the Top Echelon Help Center, are “evergreen.” What does that mean? It means we’ve filled them with information that is timeless in terms of what it takes to be successful in Top Echelon’s recruiter network.

So please enjoy this week’s Network training video!
