With that in mind, we’re resurrecting a feature from the past in The Pinnacle Newsletter Blog. Because after all, the more you know about somebody, the easier it is to do business with them. The next soul brave enough to play our game is Nick Stoia of ASAP Search & Recruiters in Columbia, South Carolina.
Although Nick specializes in placing Engineering, Manufacturing, and Information Technology professionals, we wanted to delve a little deeper with Top Echelon’s “5 Questions.” Take it away, Nick!
#1—What’s your most unusual candidate-related or client-related story in the past 12 months?
I had an affiliate-provided candidate being considered for a management-level position in Supply Chain who became difficult to reach and communicate with. It had started out great. She did not confirm being scheduled to go on an onsite interview. The client changed their mind about interviewing her in person in light of the lack of communication by the candidate. The candidate had started the drive across multiple states to the company location when she found out the company had changed their mind. Not the news she wanted to here as a consequence of this. I was glad to fill the position not long after with a great fit that went smoothly.
#2—What’s the most recent book you’ve read (title and author)?
America the Beautiful: Rediscovering What Made This Nation Great by Ben Carson, M.D. (I’m currently reading this book, since the last book I read was a textbook.)
#3—What’s one of your favorite all-time movies and why?
Hoosiers, since it is a well-done movie about getting another chance, compassion, and perseverance.
#4—What’s one thing that other recruiters in the Network don’t know about you (and that you don’t mind sharing, of course)?
I had been pursuing a Master’s Degree in a very part-time way for the past 10 years and completed, it receiving a Master’s in Theological Studies from Columbia International University here in South Carolina this past May.
#5—Finish this sentence: “If I wasn’t recruiting, I’d be . . .”
A television weatherman, more in my younger years.
