Technology and tools are designed to make the tasks of our work easier with data: moving, changing, sharing, scheduling, modifying, noting, sending . . .ad nauseum. “Work smarter, not harder!”

Like any craftsman using the right tools properly to build or create, a recruiter’s work is precise, the end product is beautiful, and they have less chance of losing a finger (placement) in the process.

“Intelligence is the ability to adapt to change.” –Stephen Hawking

We always think we are so clever and that our ways are the best and only ways to achieve success. However, if we are not constantly adapting, then we are not learning, and if we are not learning, then we will not maintain steady and consistent growth. Entropy will consume us!

It is recorded that at age 87, Michelangleo said, “Yet, I am still learning.” Now let’s couple that with this quote:

“Knowing is not enough; We must apply. Willing is not enough; We must do.” –Bruce Lee.

There is always more to learn, and if we apply what we learn, we evolve, grow, and thrive. How is this not a goal for us every day? We become haughty to anything new and remain trapped in our hypnotic routine.

Now, routine is absolutely important, but if new ideas are not implemented and we do not learn how to use tools properly or more effectively and efficiently, then we are easily overtaken by the predatory world around us.

With the systems/tools of the Big Biller recruiting software and Top Echelon Network at your fingertips, you need to ask yourself this question:

“What tasks am I doing every day that the software, for which I pay, will help me and my Top Echelon partners conduct business better and more effectively?”

If your answer is, “I am happy with how I am doing things,” then that could be complacency. Possibly, the fear of learning something new is cleverly disguising itself as comfort. Imagine the frog in the pot of water that slowly comes to a boil . . . we all know how that ends.

This Pinnacle Newsletter blog post is to encourage everyone to take time to learn to properly and effectively use the system of Top Echelon Network and Big Biller. We spent years designing and building these tools so that you can run your desk outside (Big Biller) and inside (Network) of Top Echelon.

Here are a few tips to start you on your path to learning more:

The key to being a successful Top Echelon Network member is knowing your niche-relevant partners.

One way that Network partners have been discovering one another is through the Network Candidates sourcing tool. This allows members to see who has “what” sitting on their shelves and discover partners who work their niches or who have candidates that are a fit for their roles.

Opting into the Network Candidates sourcing tool is critical to being discovered as a vital Network partner, and it’s simple to do and can change your activity in Top Echelon.

To do so, navigate to the Network Candidates Database Settings in the software and check the box next to “Yes, I want my firm’s resumes in the TEN Candidates Database.” If you do not see this option, check with your agency owner or the main contact on your account.

If you do not have candidates in the system, here is a quick way to do a Bulk Resume Upload.

Our commitment is your success in Top Echelon Network, and this is just one more way to gain traction in your ongoing quest to make more split placements.

Top Echelon offers a free monthly webinar as part of its Expert Recruiter Coaching Series.

These webinars touch upon a variety of recruiter-related topics. These topics deal with both job candidates and clients. As always, our goal with these webinars is to help agency recruiters and executive search consultants just like YOU make more placements.

We record these webinars for those recruiters who can’t attend the live recording, and we’re now pleased to offer the video from our most recent webinar by Rob Mosley of Next Level Exchange.

The title of that webinar (and corresponding training video) is “Get Inside Your Client’s Head: Understanding the Client Decision Process.”

Below is the official description for this training video:

— — —

Your prospects and clients are very busy people. Their jobs require them to make many decisions daily, and frequently, with a sense of urgency. From the moment you connect by email, voice mail, or in a live conversation, the clock is running and your prospect is judging you. Here’s the bottom line:

If you don’t know where your client is in their decision process, there is NO way that you can know where you are in your sales or closing process.

In this Expert Recruiter Coaching Series webinar video, Rob Mosley of Next Level Exchange addresses your ability to better anticipate and understand how your prospects and clients think when they’re making important decisions around your candidates and the value you bring to them.

When you watch this dynamic training video, you will:

  • Gain insight into how your client thinks during The 8 Stages of The Decision Process.
  • Explore the underlying four great truths of our industry that drive client decisions.
  • Learn that where you enter the decision-making process determines how your client perceives you.
  • Explore the models of relationship and influence that help you navigate your clients’ decisions.

So stop guessing and start making more placements . . . and “Get Inside Your Client’s Head”!

I’m not going to mince words. We want agencies just like YOURS in Top Echelon’s recruiting network!

In fact, we’re willing to pay you for them through the Top Echelon Network Referral Program. Well, we don’t actually pay you cold, hard cash.

But we DO credit your agency with a FREE month of Network membership. (And hey . . . that’s $130 you didn’t have before, right?)

Let’s move to the ground rules for the Top Echelon Network Referral Program.

Refer as many agencies as you’d like

Our logic is simple. If we think that your agency is a good fit for Network membership, then you probably know other recruiting agencies that would also be a fit. So the program is as follows:

  • There’s no limit to the number of referrals that you can provide. For instance, let’s say you submit 12 referrals that eventually become members. Then essentially your split network membership dues for one year will be paid.
  • If you’re the main contact for your agency, then we will credit your agency’s account $130. On the other hand, if you’re NOT the main contact, then we will credit the account of the Network agency for which you work $130.
  • When we say a “free month of membership,” that does not include the brokerage fee. If you refer somebody and you make a split placement during the same month that we credit your agency’s account $130, your agency still owes a brokerage fee for that split. (You can’t avoid paying the brokerage fee. Ever.)

So if you know a recruiting agency that you believe would benefit from the value that Top Echelon Network offers, please send the following information to

  • The name of the agency
  • The name of the agency owner or main contact
  • The email address of the agency owner or main contact
  • The agency’s phone number

OR you can simply send the Network application page to the agency and have the owner fill it out themselves. (Of course, they will have to mention that they were referred by you.)

Send us your referrals so that we can credit YOUR agency $130!

Since you’re a member of Top Echelon Network, you’re probably already familiar with some of the benefits of a split placement network of recruiters.

But have YOU made split placements yet? Have you closed a deal with another recruiter and experienced those benefits first-hand?

Below are three benefits of a split placement network:

#1—An excellent experience

What’s better than making a placement? Making a placement that involves a great experience.

Chances are good that you’ve made placements that have been a miserable experience. And of course, you’ve worked searches that were miserable and didn’t even end with a placement fee.

However, when you work with a trusted trading partner in a recruiting network and the two of you collaborate and strive toward a common goal, the result can be exemplary on a number of levels.

#2—Great candidates

Day after day and week after week, Network recruiters make placements solely because they were presented with a great candidate by one of their split recruiting partners.

Their client couldn’t find the right candidate. They couldn’t find the right candidate. But one of their partners had the perfect candidate. BOOM! Placement!

#3—Professional satisfaction

Despite all of the slow-moving clients and wacky candidates, recruiting can be and often is a very rewarding profession. When things work well and happen the way they should happen, the rewards are apparent.

Not only that, but the feeling of satisfaction is also that much greater. It serves to remind you why you became a recruiter in the first place. And every recruiter needs a reminder like that from time to time.

Are there more than three benefits of a split placement network? Of course there are! And I’m sure we’ll be writing about those, as well, as Network members continue to make splits.

If YOU want to experience more of the benefits associated with Network membership, contact Top Echelon Director of Network Operations Drea Codispoti, CPC/CERS.
