A Q&A About Our New Software User Interface
Top Echelon’s ATS, Big Biller, is getting an upgrade!
We are beginning an initiative to renovate and innovate our visual interface in order to improve your current user experience, as well as prepare Top Echelon for future updates. We are excited to share the current state of this project with you now, but we also understand that you may have questions about the larger initiative and what exactly will be changing.
In order to be as transparent as possible, we are responding to a few of the more common questions we have received after launching our first preview of this new interface.
1. Why are we making these changes?
The decision to update our user interface was based upon a number of important factors, including:
- Frequent user requests for a new and more “updated” appearance
- Research into current design and software trends
- A desire to establish a more stable framework to build future features
Ultimately, we are committed to continuously improving our product in order to keep it looking and working the best it can for present and prospective users. We have a lot of great new features planned, and we wanted a newer, sleeker design to apply them to.
2. How does this impact the timeline for new features?
That’s the best part – it doesn’t!
This initiative is owned by Top Echelon’s design team using their own resources, which is wholly independent from our active feature development. None of the features you are waiting for are being delayed in order to make this happen, so you still get the quality improvements you expect while being able to enjoy the new interface at your discretion.
Remember, you can always stay informed about software updates by visiting the official Top Echelon Product Updates page. You can see current and past updates, as well as which updates and upgrades are next.
3. What types of changes can I expect from the new interface?
Very little of the functionality in the current software is being removed or significantly altered.
The changes we are making will be more focused on the colors, spacing, and general layout. Our biggest changes are for the main dashboard with the inclusion of a new Pipeline summary and candidate source widget to better track your active jobs and candidate sources.
In fact, if you notice something is missing from your workflow while in the new interface, please let us know! This feedback is incredibly valuable for us for fixing “bugs” and planning future iterations of the interface. You can send us your thoughts via the survey here: [https://forms.gle/1ZDKmQWMgmDQwGma7].
4. When am I going to lose access to the old user interface?
This new interface is very much a work-in-progress. We are constantly changing, fixing, and updating based upon your feedback in order to give you the best results possible. We want to take the time we need to make sure that we get this right.
Therefore, you will not lose access to the old interface until the beginning of 2025, at the earliest.
In the meantime, the new interface can be accessed at any time to allow you to acclimate to the new layout. We strongly recommend that you take the opportunity to do so; your voice will be important in helping us shape the future of the software’s look and design.
5. Where can I keep track of updates to the new interface?
If you want to follow along with the changes we’re making, check out the New User Interface article in our Help Center.
We’ll be posting all about our recent changes and what we plan to work on next.
6. What “bugs” or quick fixes have already been addressed?
Below is a list of the “bugs” and/or quick fixes that have already been addressed in regards to the new user interface:
- The missing Resume card at the bottom of People Datasheets has been restored.
- The ability to drag Activity Modals has been restored.
- Hidden buttons in the Right Panel have been corrected.
- Activity detail display on People records will soon be restored.
- Access to additional Planner views will soon be restored.
7. What ongoing topics will be worked on next?
Below is a list of the topics that we plan to work on next in an effort to further enhance the experience associated with our new user interface:
- Color
- Spacing, size, and scroll
- Layout (more than 2 columns on large resolutions)
Thank you for your patience and understanding during this exciting time for Top Echelon and our ATS users and Network members. We look forward to great things in the future for all of us!
